Welcome! I hope everyone had a lovely June. I ended up swimming and spending time near/in the water this month more than I have in a long time. This poem was written after a water night, and I ended up liking it and decided to share it! It is a work in progress since I haven’t looked it over since I read it. I hope you enjoy it, and happy July!
I don’t remember what it felt like
To float in the pool, in the dark
A thin layer of chlorine on my lips and teeth
Drops slid down my insides like a lemon being juiced, like a boy crying into my mouth
There’s the big dipper, the rest I make up
One looks like a branch with one lone leaf
Another like a skeleton, a departed friend
There was only a moment I wished someone was there
Selfish for taking all the joy of empty water for myself
For the stars and sky from an underwater eye, for inhaled condensation and splashes on the concrete
I watched myself float, stomach sinking, ears submerged, I can still hear you
Reminding me it is almost time to head back and to bed
I try to drink but I’m nauseous before I start
I watch videos of other people making things up and being in love
With the chlorine dissipated, the stars went too
The ceiling fan and I both knew we would rather be outside
The REPORT!
Reading
Since we last talked, I finished The Memory Police by Yōko Ogawa and My Body by Emily Ratajkowski. The Memory Police was an easy 5 stars for me, and My Body was a 3.5. Overall, I enjoyed them both and I am excited about my next book, My Brilliant Friend by Elena Ferrante.

Eating
Nectarines from the tree in my parent’s front yard! This is the first year the fruit has gone crazy and I believe I am made entirely of nectarines now.

Playing
Fidgets! Recently I acquired the NeeDoh Nice Cube after much anticipation. It has come with me everywhere ever since, and I officially understand the excitement.
As far as music, I have been listening to BRAT by Charli XCX, and that is kind of all. When I’m not listening to it, I am thinking about when I’ll listen to it next. I have been listening to a few other songs though, so here they are.

Obsessing
Poppi! I think I need to be an ambassador at this point because I have been drinking at least one per day. I’m usually not a big fan of sparkling water but for some reason, this one is worth walking in the 110 heat to the store for.

Recommending
I have had three craft nights with friends just in the last couple of weeks, and it is the perfect way to catch up and have a little canvas or jewelry to remember the gathering.

Treating
Cake!! There has been a lot of celebrating in June, and I’ve been lucky to eat and make many a cake.
